749th Post - I Saw Lincoln Shot

A little bit of housekeeping before I begin my post: Post 750 will contain an interview with a local radio person. But it won't go up for a few days yet, maybe even several days. I'll be skipping over post 750 and go right to 751. Fear not. The interview, my longest yet, will be published soon.

I am a member of a Civil War mailing list. I can contribute nearly nothing to it as it is populated by extremely knowledgeable people. I occasionally ask a question, and it is patiently answered.

Imagine my surprise today when I saw an e-mail from someone who had a link to a blog that in turn had a link to a youtube video. This video was of a 1956 or so episode of a panel show called "I've Got a Secret". They had to guess who a person was, and then interview the person. Front Page Challenge in Canada was inspired by it, I'd guess.

But what is extremely interesting about this is that their guest, as a 5 year old, attended Ford's Theater in Washington, DC, on the same evening that the President of the United States was in attendance. This fellow was the last living witness to the aftermath of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

What a shame that they don't have shows like this any more.
