Hi. A quick post, as I have had a busy day.
The highlight was the latest blog interview. We drove to Dartmouth Crossing during the lunch hour, arriving at the Swiss Chalet there around 12:40. We went inside the restaurant and waited for him to arrive, which was shortly before 1pm. We started chatting, ate lunch, and didn't finish talking until about 3:30! I got some photos inside and outside. As we were about to take our leave, he began to tell one more story about how he had met a famous heavyweight champ of years gone by. I whipped out my voice recorder and asked him to start again, which he did. We didn't take our leave until 3:45!
Amazing stuff. It will be a long, fascinating interview, and I am looking forward to sharing it with you.
He knows several other old-timers and has promised to help get me in touch with them. Talking to these guys about what radio was like 40 and 50 years ago, or even longer, will, I hope, be as fascinating to you as it has been to me.
We talked about Danny Gallivan, Foster Hewett, an incident involving Frank Sinatra and a hockey player, and so many other stories. His story of how he broke into radio was so fortuitous that one can only imagine some invisible hand guiding him toward this career path.
I can't wait to share these stories with you. Keep your eyes peeled for this amazing interview.
Gee, I have 2 interviews to transcribe now. I'd better get to work on them both this weekend.
Patricia and I plan to go for a drive tomorrow, taking our cameras with us. Expect lots of photos on my facebook, and the most interesting ones here.
The blog is getting to be more fun for me every day!
