Post 1253 - Briefly Noted

So, today I took my mother to lunch at the Tin Pan restaurant in Port Williams. A couple of weeks ago the paper credited this place as having the best burger in Nova Scotia.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but it sure was yummy and big. The iced tea was amazing. We were stuffed when we waddled out.

As a native, I have to say how delighted I am that PW's few storefronts are all pretty much occupied. There may be some office space I don't know about that's not spoken for, and the former Shurgain plant is becoming more of an eyesore each time I see it, but Tin Pan is doing well. The meat market next door sells great stuff. There is a new bakery down the street. The wharf convenience store is... well, it is what it is. The furniture store has been there for 20 years or so. The Shurgain store sells interesting items for your pet or horse. The Port Pub is about 2 years old now and the parking lot is often full up. They have live music.

It's very nice to see these stores doing well.

The lady at Tin pan told me some of the history of the building. I will write of that again, soon.
