Remember the blog post from last night? In which I predicted that surely some rain must fall in my life?
Well, it did.
I mentioned that I moved a bunch of old vhs tapes out of the house on Friday. Filled 5 big blue bags with them, dragged them upstairs, then outside, and then into the car of the guy who was accepting them. All that stress and strain hurt my back. I had hoped it would get better during the weekend and didn't really write of it then.
However, this morning I was in such pain, and it was getting worse, that I emailed in sick and arranged a doctor's appointment which will be Tuesday at 10:30.
I slept most of the morning and then carefully sat in a chair all afternoon, with a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel and pressed up against the part of my back that was complaining the most. That plus a Robaxacet got me through the day. I feel better tonight, but will still keep my doctor's appointment in the morning.
I'm glad I got rid of those movies on Friday, but the attendant pain and discomfort only reminds me that I'm not getting any younger and that I need to be more careful with how I bend and lift stuff. I usually am, but I worked so hard on Friday and underestimated how heavy the bags would be and how hard it would be to get them from the rec room to upstairs to outside to the guy's car, that it took a whole lot out of me.
I will see what the doc says in the morning. But I should be good to go.
At least, I hope so.
See you tomorrow.
