It is Friday night. Past 10pm. We are recovering from the first blizzard of 2014.
The weather was abysmal when I woke up this morning. My street had not yet been plowed. I wrote work to indicate that I would try to come in by the time I had been plowed. Even though that did happen, you wouldn't have known it. Then, around 11, work was shut down anyway. Buses were called off the road by early in the afternoon. People who were at their jobs were likely stranded there.
This evening the teenager down the street I've hired to shovel out my driveway during the winter began to do so, along with his mother, which made me feel bad because it implies that she thought that the work might be too much for him on his own. I hope that is not the case. It's not like I want to go out there for hours and shovel all that snow on my own.
It has been a quiet day over all. Unlike some other people, we did not lose our power. We had cable and phone and heat and the cats. And (aw!!) each other.
Tomorrow I will tackle laundry and break down boxes that can go out on Tuesday. I will squeeze in time for a nap or two as well.
How did you make out today during this blizzard?
See you tomorrow.
