Hey, folks.
Sorry I didn't write on Monday. It was a long day, and I fell asleep early. In fact, I missed "24" last night. Shame on me.
Before I went to work on Monday morning, I took some pictures of the house to show where the carpenters would be doing their work. I include some of those pictures here. You will be able to see for yourself just how bad the steps were and especially how bad the bad deck was. A day later, the stuff is all ripped down and they're putting up the frames for the front steps/deck before they call it a day. In fact, I am so happy with their work that I am driving them home because their ride abandoned them and I don't want them to spend 2 hours on a damn bus ride home.
They're also going to fix the window sill at the ground level and replace the 2 doors on the shed as they are rotten. They have been busy and by no means are they finished yet!
Please note that I haven't taken any pictures from today yet. I will when I return from taking the guys home. Today was mostly about cleaning up the mess from yesterday and putting up the frame for the front deck. The actual decking material will not be ready until Friday. Until then we will use the side steps, which required the least amount of work.
Say, can you find Newbie in any of the above pictures? He is in two.
They will likely not have a chance to put up the frame for the back deck/landing until this weekend. That's fine. All good things come to those who wait and all that tommy rot.
I am the son of a carpenter. I grew up appreciating the smell of freshly-cut wood. The hemlock lumber in the backyard produces a wonderful aroma I wish I could put in a bottle and share with you. I have a particular set of skills that has nothing to do with carpentry work or with rescuing my daughter from a white slavery ring. I can certainly appreciate what these guys do, though. They put in a really hard day and earn every cent of what they get. I was only too glad to buy them some beer yesterday and Subway sandwiches this afternoon. Patricia will be back this evening. I am sure that she will help spoil them when they return to finish the job this weekend.
In other news, I have been given leave to go forward and put up the Courtney Amirault interview. I will try to do that this evening or tomorrow. It promises to be a rollicking good time, and I hope you take the time to read it and respond to it.
You guys have a good day. See you tomorrow.
