It is fairly late. In just about 9 hours the carpenters will be here. With any luck, they will have finished their work by the end of the day.
That means that within 24 hours we should be able to sit on the front deck and watch people walk and drive by, order kids off the lawn, and watch people walk and drive by. Good times. Good times. Why am I repeating everything? Why am I repeating everything?
I especially look forward to being able to take it easy on the back landing, an ersatz deck that will barely be big enough for 2 people to sit on. We will have to fight over who gets to use it. The fact that I will have paid for nearly the whole thing myself will not be a persuasive enough argument for Patricia. Maybe I will get to use it every other Tuesday between 10 and 11. AM. When I should be at work.
Post Tropical Storm Arthur blew through here today. Other than relatively high winds, it wasn't much to write about here in Halifax. There was very little rain. Other parts of the province did not fare so well. The power in the old homestead has been off all day. I hope it comes back on soon. I still have some pieces of steak and hamburger and a chunk of brisket, in the freezer. If the power comes back on relatively soon, it should still be okay. Otherwise, there may be a problem.
Saturday morning we went to the Value Village in Bayer's Lake. I found a Panasonic clock radio that is a faux wooden cabinet. It sounds nearly as good as the GE models, so I got it. Good purchase. They also had a Sirius XM radio in a boom box for $25. It had the antenna and everything. I managed to get it to start up for a whole 5 seconds before it shut down again. I didn't get it. It remains there for the next sucker to come along and grab it.
Now that I have done it, I will tell you about it. I modified the Courtney Amirault interview earlier today. Not her fault. Not mine. But I removed one of the video links in the interview. It was Rolf Harris' interpretation of "Stairway to Heaven". I discovered on Friday morning that Rolf Harris, the Australian entertainer whose show I used to watch as a kid, and liked, was very recently convicted of sex crimes against girls. These crimes began in the late 1960's and continued into the 1980's. Other women are stepping forward with their own allegations, so this is probably not over by a long shot. The little worm actually did a video about child sex abuse, as a way of hiding in plain sight. #RolfHarris is trending on Twitter. Many, many articles are coming out just this week about the trial, which was huge news down under. I will spare you the details of what he was convicted of. You can read about it for yourself.
Suffice it to say that I didn't want, and knew that Courtney wouldn't want, any videos embedded in her interview that linked to anything featuring that man. I got busy with stuff on Friday night, but made the correction early this afternoon.
I apologized to Courtney, and she said it was not necessary as I couldn't have known. She was right: I couldn't have known. But if anyone reading this happened to watch the Rolf Harris video I embedded in her interview and took offence because of what he did, please visit your scorn upon me and not on her.
I don't think we need to discuss this subject ever again.
You guys have a good evening. I will see you tomorrow. I will even try to write the blog post from the back deck, assuming I am allowed to use it.
