Post 2848 - Bevboy's Christmas Tie Extravaganza 2014 - Day Thirteen

Hello again, me hearties.

Tonight there was almost no blog post. I got home from work and there was no internet connection. Turned out that my router died during the day. It just stopped working. I reset the thing a few times. Unplugged it and then plugged it back in. Nada.

Last week, A guy at work gave me an older Linksys wireless G router. I took it thinking I would never use the thing. But, here I am, using the thing. Even the really short piece of ethernet cable attached to it is useful, replacing the long piece I had had before that ran between the modem and the now-toast router. Thank you, David.

I spent more than a little bit of time this evening configuring the router, and even getting the thing to work. I mean, do YOU know your pppoe username and password? Really? Tell me the truth, sahib. I will know if you are lying. And do you know exactly what things are supposed to be specified in every crevice and crack on your router configuration? Really? You do? Never mind. I'm a dummy, I guess.

Anyway, about 20 minutes ago, I got the router talking to the modem, and all is now well. Netflix works again. I am a little concerned that wireless G will be a severely limiting factor for me, but I'm told that before "N" came into being, that "G" had not been fully exploited at all. One's internet connection is only as strong as the bandwidth coming into the house, and unless you have fiberop you probably are still fine with a "G" router. That is what I am telling myself at least. I have a couple wireless "N" routers, new in box, at my mother's. Perhaps I will bring one back with me this weekend.

At any rate, I am up and running. Which means...

Today's Christmas tie picture was taken at my work. I was going to get it done during our work potluck lunch, but I was waddling around so much after eating too much that all I could think about was getting my stomach pumped and not taking pictures. You understand.

A woman at my work, one of my 4.7, was wearing a special shirt today, one that I thought would contrast very nicely with my tie. You be the judge.

Do you see it? Yep. She is wearing a Grinch shirt. I am hoping, perhaps naively, that basking in my presence for a few minutes would melt her heart, make it two and a half times bigger, or whatever the frig is supposed to happen with the Grinch that causes him to return the purloined gifts to the denizens of Whoville and consume his fair share of the roast beast.

She is on vacation until after Christmas, so I will have to wait and ask her upon her return. The heart thing. Not whether she consumed any roast beast. That would be none of my business.

Been a long night. Guess I will turn in.

See you tomorrow.

Bevboy
