Post 3484 - Tuesday

Just past 10pm.

Sorry I didn't write last night. I wasn't feeling well. Just slept the night away.

The highlight today was the retirement lunch for a long-time co-worker, friend, and regular blog reader, Elliott. We went to the Steak and Stein in Halifax, across from our work.

It was a grant time. We talked about some of the strange people we have worked for over the years, laughed quite a bit, and realized that we are not going to see him that much going forward. It was a bitter sweet experience.

He told me his age. He is about six months away from being 55 years old. I will turn 53 in a few weeks. I am not far behind him at all. I have attended quite a few retirement parties for people, more so in recent months. They have always seemed like old, or even much older, people. Now, for the first time, I am seeing people leave who are just thismuch older than I am. I am not sure how I feel about it.

Anyway, Elliott, I know you will read this. You have been a good friend for years now. We go way back to the early 1990's. You sat on the selection committee for the job I got now. We have shared a lot. And, now, things change. Let us just hope it is good change.

Elliott tells me that he has a new job already. He is the kind of guy who has to keep working. Must have a mortgage and a wife or something. The nerve of that guy.

Enjoy your retirement, Elliott. And, I order you to keep in touch.

See you tomorrow.
